  • Wine Time

    • Lyrics

Fingernails tapping on the crystal clear
A familiar sound that awakens my ears
      Whatever I'm doing gets sidelined
For our daily gathering and social (verbal) unwind

Lying on a shelf at a cool 58
Assorted bottles of flavor that refrigerate
      Fermented grapes of various kinds
Oh how I love wine time

Oh how I love wine time

The way she dresses adds a visual accent
Adding to the already heightened suspense
Hearing the cork from the bottle as it pops
I look at my watch and it says 5 o'clock

Sashay to the kitchen I arrive on the scene
Where there's always an appetizing plate of cuisine.
She’s my friend, my buddy, my partner in crime.
Oh how I love wine time!

Oh how I love wine time!

Will it be red or white or perhaps a Rose
Riesling, Chablis, or a crisp Chardonnay,
      Burgundy, Merlot, or Pino Nior.
Last time we Pino’d, naked, back seat of the car.

Wine time we happy. Wine time we dance.
Wine time can puts us in a bit of a trance.
A sacrificial ritual of grapes from the vine.
It’s time to fill that glass of mine.

Oh how I love wine time! /:/

  • There's a Melody

    • Lyrics

There's a melody that's going round in my brain,
A funky rhythm screaming out to be tamed.
So I write it down and figure out what to do,
Find the right compliment and bring it back to you.

      Adding some self reflection
      And my word collection,
Linked together like a lyrical train.
There's a melody that's going round in my brain.

I grab me my guitar and play it real time.
Find me a bass lick with a good bottom line
Add some percussion maybe vocal harmonies.
Step back and see if there's continuity.

      Playing host to my visions,
      Like a television,
      Movie down memory lane,
There's a melody that's going round in my brain.

There's a melody that's going round in my brain,
A funky rhythm screaming out to be tamed.
So I write it down and figure out what to do.
Find the right compliment and bring it back to you.

When it's all said and done,
My labor of fun (I tell everyone),
      I break out the Champagne.
There's a melody that's going round in my brain.

There's a melody that's going round in my brain,
A funky rhythm screaming out to be tamed.
So I write it down and figure out what to do.
Find the right compliment and bring it back to you.

  • Walk in the Rain

    • Lyrics

I took a walk in the rain
To be rid of the pain of you.
Somehow I knew from the start
You’d break my heart and it came true.

My skies are dreary. There’s dark clouds above,
And my insides are black and blue.
It’s time to stop thinking get down to drinking.
Hey there baby, maybe that’s just what I’ll do.

      I took a walk to a bar.
I didn’t take the car. No not me.
And with some smoke in my eyes, I got real high
Drinking for three, or four, or five or more.

Then I spun around on that old barstool
Until I fell face flat on the floor.
With some help from my friends, they put me back on my feet
While yelling, “Hey bartender how’s about just one more.”

The next day I woke up in bed with a vice in my head
Wondering how I flattened my nose.
On my butt’s a tattoo that says, “Thinking of you”.
And there’s a bit of an ache, but I took what it takes to let go.

I took a walk in the rain
To be rid of the pain of you.
Somehow I knew from the start
You’d break my heart and it came true.

Yeah, but now my skies are clearing there’s oceans of blue
And white puffy clouds up above.
There’s one thing for sure. I will never endure
Another traumatic, soap opera, over dramatic,
Running around blind, losing my mind,
Overrated, frustrated, ought to be medicated, love. /:/

  • Where Ya Been So Long

    • Lyrics

I was walking down lonesome road.
I forgot, just how cold it could be.
I got to thinking about her smile.
In hindsight, I could see my baby…
      Where ya been so long?

Found my baby she was drunk on Gin.
Didn't know if she would, let me in... the room.
I was talking. She was singing the blues,
Removing her clothes and kicking off her shoes.
Oh baby, Where ya been so long?

      Chorus:
Her motor was racing. It was running ahead. And she said,
“Hey boy, are you coming to bed?” And I said,
“Although, I missed you, and it's been awhile.
I really came just to see your smile.”

She was wearing those black lace things,
You know the kind, that can make any man sing.
I couldn’t do it. Let me explain.
She’s living in the Alcohol of Fame.
Oh baby, where ya been so long?

                                                                  (Chorus)/:/

“Last call boy. Are you coming to bed?”

Ended up back down lonesome road.
Ain't so bad, when your told.
Seeing my baby was much too sad.
I guess being cold, ain't so bad.

      Oh baby, where ya been?
Oh baby, get off the Gin.
Oh baby, bye-bye, bye-bye, so long
      So long. /:/3

  • Be Mine All Mine

    • Lyrics

Just a couple, young lovers, on a starry, starry night
Diamonds twinkle above us, it's a stargazers delight
Fueling the fire, as our passion begins to ignite
Tell me, that you'll be mine all mine... tonight

I send a warm whisper of a lyric in your ear,
Taken from the song I sing whenever you are near.
Singing like an Eagle, oh, baby, "One of These Nights".
Tell me, that you'll be mine all mine... tonight.

      Chorus
Take me under the stars, and be mine all mine.
Let's embrace everything that we are.
Under the moon shine, be mine all mine.

                                                                  (Chorus)

Just a couple, young lovers... on a starry, starry night
Getting lost in each other, there's confidence in, "we're so alike".
Sliding souls together, we could be part of something so right.
Tell me, that you'll be mine all mine... tonight.

Take me under the stars, and be mine all mine.
Let's embrace everything that we are.
Under the moon shine, be mine all mine. /:/

  • Olive in the House

    • Lyrics

Is there an olive in house? /:/x3
      If you must know why,
      My eyes got wet
      so I've gotta get dry.

      Martini,
      Why'd she leave me.
We'd been together for so long.
      Now she's gone (gone, gone).

Like a bird she headed south.
I never heard a word from her mouth.
      Now I'm looking
for an olive in the house.

      Chorus
Is there an olive in house? /:/x3
      If you must know why.
      My eyes got wet
      so I've gotta get dry.

      My step Brother
      ran off with my lover.
      The lowdown, dirtiest, dude
I ever came upon, Mr. Don Juan.

I'm not sure how it all came about.
She left a note and just walked out.
      Now I'm looking
For an olive in the house.

                                                                  (Chorus)

      Bridge
It's time to go for a swim,
Drown in a bottle of Gin.
Of this, I have no doubt.
I'm just looking for an olive in the house.

                                                                  (Chorus)

      Hey, Martini,
      you've gotta believe me.
      I can't believe she's really
      Gone... gone (gone, gone).

This is what her little note said:
She was tired of waiting to be wed.
She longed for those wedding vows.
Now I'm looking for an olive in the house.

She wished I'd just drop dead.
By now we should be newlyweds.
I just found a jar of olives in the house.
      Yes! Olives in the house.

  • Young Man

    • Lyrics

He said, “I’ve been wanting to ask you out for dinner sometime.”
“You’ve got my attention boy, what’s on your mind?”
“You’re a lovely looking lady and I like what I see”,
“But I’m a little bit older than you think I might be.”

      Chorus:
      Young Man, Young Man,
You make me feel desired again.
      Young Man, Young Man,
Uh Oh, the trouble I’m/your getting in.

He touches my shoulder, gazes into my eyes,
So thirsty for loving, I’m drinking the lies.
The heat of his breath, so deep in my ear,
No more indecision where we’re going is clear.

                                                                  (Chorus)/:/

      Bridge:
Lost in the moment, he’s taking the lead,
Allowing this man to give me all that I need.
Want me, take me, as you please,
Drifting through a dream like reality.

Embraced in his arms in the afternoon sun,
Pleasure and passion unravel as one.
There’s a tingling and a ringing growing loud in my head,
Shattered awake I’m all alone in my bed.

      Young Man, Young Man,
You make me feel desired again.
      Young Man, Young Man,
There’s no more trouble we’re getting in.

  • Just Memories Now

    • Lyrics

      The way we'd danced.
      The way we'd sing.
      Longing for kisses
And what the night would bring.

      How we laughed.
      How we smiled.
Our hearts beating to the music,
      All the while.

When the band and the night were through,
      We'd take our bows.
      It was all so grand.
      Just memories now.

      Remember the clothes,
My suit, my dress (ah… yes).
      Wondering the mystery under;
      we could only guess.

      And our eyes…
      Innocent and wide
      Such a lovely woman.
      Such a handsome guy.

      Saying good night... Amonte...
      Bella Donna, Ciao.
      It was all so grand.
      Just memories now.

      Chattanooga Choo, Choo, Choo,
      Take the a train.
      Pennsylvania 6500, In the Mood,
Stompin’ and Jumpin’, Tuxedo Junction, Moonlight Serenade.

      Bridge:
      Dancing all night,
      Light on our feet.
      Swinging in ballrooms,
      Or a moonlit beach.

      Whatever we imagined,
      We managed to reach somehow.
      It was all so grand.
      Just memories now.

      Mmmm! Memories.

  • Hynesight Shuffle

  • Pelican Bay Blues

    • Lyrics

I've got money in my pocket, money in the bank,
A penthouse on the ocean, my women in Vera Wang.
My suits are custom made, $5000.00 bucks a pop.
My chauffeur drives me daily, to and from my yacht.
It took an hour to decide, to wear my alligator shoes.
Oh, I got! Oh, I got the Pelican Bay blues.

I own a Bentley, and a Mercedes Benz,
      A Ferrari, Maserati, thanks to stock, dividends;
My Rolls Royce nightly, when I go out to eat,
Five star restaurant, private table VIP.
My name has not yet made it on the list of who's who.
Oh, I got! Oh, I got the Pelican Bay blues.

I drive my golf cart, to the club, right across the street,
Play 9 holes, cross back over, eat lunch, at the beach.
I have nothing but the time, says my Rolex made of gold.
No matter how I try, I seem to have no self-control,
I buy whatever I want. I never "just make do".
Oh, I got! Oh, I got the Pelican Bay blues.

My penthouse has a bar, in every room within reach.
There's a bar at the north end, and the south end beach.
Stocked with all the finest, liquor, beer and wine
Which I deliver to my liver, my favorite pastime.
It's so overwhelming, picking and choosing the different booze.
Oh, I got! Oh, I got the Pelican Bay blues.

Oh, I got! Oh, I got the Pelican Bay blues.
Oh, I got! Oh, I got the Pelican Bay blues. /:/x3
The IRS says I am under financial review.
Oh, I got! Oh, I got the Pelican Bay blues. /:/

‘Wine Time’ is the culmination of songs written with a jazz / blues feel. The use of horns and upbeat tempo sets the tone for a fun, light hearted mood.
